The agitating students and job aspirants are demanding quota reform in all government jobs. Their demand is to keep a maximum quota of 5 percent. Keeping that in mind, the government can issue a circular. They support minimum quota only for children of disabled, minorities and freedom fighters. These quotas are not required to be more than 5 percent even if the benefits are given in proportion to the population.

সরকারি চাকরির সব পদে কোটা সংস্কারের দাবি করছেন আন্দোলনকারী শিক্ষার্থী ও চাকরিপ্রত্যাশীরা। তাঁদের দাবি সর্বোচ্চ ৫ শতাংশ কোটা রাখা। সেটিকে সামনে রেখে সরকার একটি পরিপত্র জারি করতে পারে। শুধু প্রতিবন্ধী, ক্ষুদ্র জাতিগোষ্ঠী ও মুক্তিযোদ্ধার সন্তানদের জন্য ন্যূনতম কোটাকে তাঁরা সমর্থন করেন। জনসংখ্যার আনুপাতিক হারে সুবিধা দিলেও এসব কোটা ৫ শতাংশের বেশি রাখার প্রয়োজন হয় না।

A teenager has been arrested by the police in the case of the murder of Abu Saeed, a student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur. According to the birth certificate, his age is 16 years and 10 months. After his arrest, he has been imprisoned in Rangpur jail for 12 days. The police have mentioned his age as 19 years in the case.
This teenager is a student of Class XI (Science Department) of Rangpur Police Lines School and College. The institute's vice-principal (administration) Salim Ahmed told Prothom Alo that the boy is a student of their institute. He learned yesterday that he is imprisoned in Rangpur Jail.
This student's father runs a studio business at Park Junction in Rangpur. He told Prothom Alo yesterday afternoon that Abu Saeed was killed on July 16. And his son left home on July 18 at noon. He then got into a clash between protesters and law enforcement at Modern Junction. He heard that his son was shot in the leg by the police. Because of this he could not escape. That night he was called and told that his son was in police custody. Will be released the next day. But the boy was kept in jail without release.

রংপুরে বেগম রোকেয়া বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী আবু সাঈদ হত্যা মামলায় এক কিশোরকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে পুলিশ। জন্মসনদ অনুযায়ী তার বয়স ১৬ বছর ১০ মাস। গ্রেপ্তারের পর ১২ দিন ধরে রংপুর কারাগারে বন্দী রয়েছে সে। পুলিশ মামলায় তার বয়স উল্লেখ করেছে ১৯ বছর।
এই কিশোর রংপুর পুলিশ লাইনস স্কুল অ্যান্ড কলেজের একাদশ শ্রেণির (বিজ্ঞান বিভাগ) ছাত্র। প্রতিষ্ঠানটির উপাধ্যক্ষ (প্রশাসন) সেলিম আহমেদ প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, ছেলেটি তাঁদের প্রতিষ্ঠানের ছাত্র। সে রংপুর কারাগারে বন্দী আছে বলে গতকাল বুধবার জানতে পেরেছেন।
এই শিক্ষার্থীর বাবা রংপুরের পার্কের মোড়ে স্টুডিও ব্যবসা করেন। তিনি গতকাল বিকেলে প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, আবু সাঈদ নিহত হন ১৬ জুলাই। আর তাঁর ছেলে বাড়ি থেকে বের হয় ১৮ জুলাই দুপুরে। এরপর সে মডার্ন মোড়ে আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর সঙ্গে আন্দোলনকারীদের সংঘর্ষের মধ্যে পড়ে। তিনি শুনেছেন, তাঁর ছেলের পায়ে পুলিশ গুলি করেছে। এ কারণে সে পালাতে পারেনি। ওই দিন রাতে তাঁকে ফোন করে বলা হয়েছিল, তাঁর ছেলে পুলিশি হেফাজতে আছে। পরদিন ছেড়ে দেওয়া হবে। কিন্তু ছেলেটিকে ছেড়ে না দিয়ে জেলে বন্দী করে রাখা হয়েছে।
